Michigan’s Rare Plants and Animals
Many plants in Michigan are considered Endangered, Threatened, Species of Special Concern, and Probably Extirpated. The information on the status of these plants has come from the Michigan Natural Features Inventory’s current list of Michigan’s Rare Plants and Michigan’s Rare Animals, which became effective on March 20, 2023, after extensive review by technical advisors to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the citizens of the state.
This list was produced by the Endangered Species Program of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan Natural Features Inventory.
